Iran, Syria to hold economic follow-up committee meeting

DAMASCUS – Iran and Syria will hold a gathering of the Economic Follow-Up and Cooperation Development Committee in Damascus on Thursday and Friday.

The Iranian delegation is headed by first vice-president while the Syrian delegation is headed by the nation’s prime minister, the Islamic Republic of Iran reported.
Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Nikzad said establishment of a joint bank is the top priority of the negotiations.
The two countries’ cooperation in the fields of radio and television, petrochemical, energy, oil and power plants will also be discussed in the meeting.
Nikzad went on to note that currently 46 Iranian companies are operating in Syria and have over $1.6 billion worth of technical and engineering services projects in hand in the Arab republic.
These projects include the construction of a cement factory, a car manufacturing plant, 10 silos, two power plants, tunnels, water canals, bridges, refinery boilers, a glass factory, manufacturing and repairing a variety of wagons, water and waste water projects, steel, color industry, pharmaceuticals and exporting electric transformer and posts comprise some of the projects
